Old Aunt Inga
was a snoopy one,
mouthed to everybody what her nose found,
and one day on the way to church arrived early
to pick up my grandmother, running late.
Grandma hid the dirty dishes in the cupboards,
the cups here, the silverware there,
a big bowl of gravy on the highest shelf.
Grandma went upstairs to change into her church clothes
and when she came down, there Aunt Inga stood
below the open cupboard,
covered with gravy,
nose and all.
